Clemson vs. LSU Line History

Before the College Football Playoff semifinals, Clemson was listed as a 1.5-point favorite over LSU in a hypothetical national championship game.

Then LSU blew out Oklahoma, and everything changed.

After the Peach Bowl, Circa Sports in Las Vegas listed LSU as a 3.5-point favorite over either Ohio State or Clemson.

Both sharp and public money hit LSU right away, moving the line to Tigers -4.5.

At DraftKings in New Jersey, Clemson hit as high as +6.5 on Saturday night after the semifinals, while the rest of the market remained at -4.5 and -5.5. Eventually, it fell to +6 and then to +5.5 a day later.

The total has remained pretty steady. Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas did open at 72, but it was bet down immediately, and the rest of the market opened around 69.5.

A few books briefly moved back up to 70, but there are no 70's left as of Monday — every book is at 67.5 or 68 after sharp money hit the under over the weekend.

It feels unlikely that this line gets to a key number — i.e. -3 or +7 — as it floats in this dead zone.

LSU is getting record betting support, with 69% of the tickets as of Monday morning. That would be the high for any team in the semifinals or national title game in the College Football Playoff era.
