It’s Week 17 and you’re scrambling to replace Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins or perhaps another receiver in the league.

What does that mean for Kansas City’s new default No. 1 receiver, Mecole Hardman?

There will be no Patrick Mahomes for the Chiefs, but Chad Henne has to get the ball to someone, right? That figures to be Travis Kelce, but there are questions surrounding how much the tight end will play.

The player receiving the biggest bump is Hardman.

Hardman has been targeted in every game this season, but he’s been boom or bust since entering the NFL. He’s played at least 68% of offensive snaps just three times this year, one of which was a seven-catch, 96-yard performance against the Raiders.

He was targeted six times in Week 16, resulting in three catches for 24 yards.

While Hardman should see the field more, it’s clear by our expert’s rankings there’s still risk involved in playing him.

If your fantasy team is a projected underdog and you need to take a chance, Hardman is your guy. If you’re trying to protect an advantage, safer options might be available (Russell Gage).

Sean Koerner’s Tiers are a good resource for player comparison, as are our complete fantasy rankings. You can find those here.

Hardman is an attractive DFS option, according to Chris Raybon’s model on Fantasy Labs. He has a top-10 rating on DraftKings with only $4,200 price.

Henne is ranked as the No. 22 QB in our Week 17 fantasy rankings.
