  • Jason Sobel details two matchup bets that have value in Round 2 of the 2018 Hero World Challenge.
  • His picks analyze the following matchups: Patrick Cantlay vs. Patrick Reed and Jon Rahm vs. Jason Day

Unlike most full-field events, the Hero World Challenge re-pairs after the opening round, which should leave some competitive matches for Friday afternoon.

Here are my two favorites for the day …

Season Record: 1-2 (-1.06 units)

Patrick Cantlay (-105) over Patrick Reed

A couple of Patricks are three strokes clear of the field after the opening round, but I’m doubling-down on my original assessment of Reed’s game and once again fading him in this matchup.

Recent travels over the past month didn’t leave any lingering effects in the first round, but it could be coming. Give me Cantlay to win this one.

Jason Day (-105) over Jon Rahm

There are two ways to view Day’s opening 1-under 71: Either he maximized the birdies or it was plagued by too many bogeys. Here’s guessing the former will continue, while the latter, which included five bogeys, gets turned around. It should be enough to take down Rahm.
