Howell had a top 10 at the PGA back in 2003 but hasn’t really sniffed another since. Over his last six appearances in this major, he has three missed cuts and no finishes inside the top 60.

This is not a great course fit for him given the distance required, and he’s also in terrible recent form, with two missed cuts prior to last week’s withdrawal at the Byron Nelson. He didn’t say why he withdrew, so it’s unclear if it was due to injury, but it gives another reason to avoid him this week.
