After a successful online launch last week, the Maryland sports betting market could see two new online sportsbooks join the fold soon.
The Maryland Lottery on Thursday announced that Bally Bet and WynnBET have qualified for online sports betting licenses in the state. Maryland went live with seven online sportsbooks on Nov. 23, and a couple of other operators, including Betfred, betPARX and Fanatics, are scheduled to launch in 2023.
The seven sportsbooks to go live last week were:

What Comes Next
The Maryland Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) can approve both books as early as Dec. 14 during their next meeting. Sports betting licenses would then be issued by the Maryland Lottery. Both Bally Bet and WynnBET would have to go through a testing period before officially launching.
In an ideal world for both sportsbooks, they would launch by the New Year in time for college football bowl games, the College Football Playoff National Championship, and the start of the NFL Playoffs.
