BetMGM Bonus Code Lands $1,000 First Bet Offer for Tuesday NHL, CBB & More

BetMGM Bonus Code Lands $1,000 First Bet Offer for Tuesday NHL, CBB & More article feature image

With the NBA on its All-Star hiatus, Tuesday’s odds board presents action in the NHL, college hoops and Champions League while BetMGM promo code TOPACTION offers a $1,000 first bet.

What this means is that new bettors with BetMGM Sportsbook can place a wager on any of Tuesday’s events and see their money back if the bet loses.

There’s nine games on tap in the NHL, so we’ll look at the Kings-Wild faceoff at 8:00 p.m. ET for  wagering suggestions to demonstrate this bet.

BetMGM Bonus Code TOPACTION: Kings-Wild

The Los Angeles Kings-Minnesota Wild tilt is the only Tuesday matchup featuring two teams inside the playoff picture as of Feb. 21.

BetMGM has the Wild tabbed as -125 home favorites, which is a market best. But we’ll want to peak a bit deeper into a bet that will reveal some plus-money value since this bet has the safety gauge on it.

Los Angeles Kings: +105 at BetMGM

The Kings (32-18-17) enter Xcel Energy Center on a four-game heater where they’ve outscored their opposition 23-10. Adrian Kempe is responsible for six of those goals with eight points during the run. The seventh-year center is well on-pace to have a career-best campaign with 44 points through 57 games.

His offense is bolstered by the fruitful production of All-Star Kevin Fiala (21-40-61) and Anze Kopitar (18-32-50). This group, quarterbacked by Drew Doughty, comprises the second-most efficient power play in the NHL with 26.2% efficiency.

The uncertainty with this team lies in the defense and goaltending departments. Los Angeles is allowing 3.36 goals and has been dreadful killing penalties at a 26th-best 74.6% rate.

Between the three goaltenders that have played this season, the Kings rank second-to-last in professional hockey stopping pucks as they sport a .883 save percentage. Jonathan Quick has not cracked .90 in his last four starts and Pheonix Copely has benefited from the offense with a 17-3-1 record since getting the call-up, but is just above ground with a .904 SV%.

The Kings have hit the over in 31 of 57 games this season and hold a 27-30 record ATS.

Minnesota Wild: -125 at BetMGM

Minnesota (30-21-5) is just two points inside the playoff picture while having played some erratic hockey as of late. Granted, eight of its last ten games have been decided by a goal and it’s gone 5-4-1.

The chemistry of Kirill Kaprizov (33-33-66) and Mats Zuccarello (20-36-56) has been an amusing spectacle, but the two crafty wingers account for 28% of the team’s point production.

There’s good balance between the special teams units as the Wild present a top ten power play (24%) and penalty kill (81.7%). But the 5-on-5 play has been exceptionally weak.

Marc-Andre Fleury has entered the waning years of his career where his goals against average is a hair under 3.00 (2.98) and his save percentage is a hair over .900 (.901). Fleury has lost his last three starts while Filip Gustavsson played the last two games to secure victories.

The Wild are 18-10-2 on home ice this season and just secured a significant 4-3 win against the division-leading Dallas Stars amidst the home stand.

They lost the previous two meetings against Los Angeles 6-7 and 0-1, so the market must seem to think the third L.A. win is the hardest.

Placing the Bet

OK, let’s suggest a two-leg same game parlay that involves Kings moneyline plus the over six goals for +299 odds.

We can bet any amount up to $1,000 in order to have our stake returned if we lose. So let’s pretend our bankroll is $1,000 (we suggest this to reap the best benefits from the promotion).

In the case the bet hits, we get $3,990 back that we can withdraw or keep betting with. It’s all real cash we can do with as we please.

But if it were to lose, we get $1,000 back in bonus bets.

For Action’s official game preview of Kings-Wild, here’s the write-up courtesy of Carol Schram.

How to Strike Value With Bonus Bets

These work differently than betting with real money. They’re an opportunity to win real profits back, but we can’t just withdraw the $1,000 and run.

We need to bet through all of our bonus bets before we can withdraw the profits. Also, it’s wise to split these up into different bets rather than wagering the whole pot.

So let’s take $100 and place it on a parlay of all three of Wednesday’s NHL games:

  • Jets ML vs. Islanders
  • Stars ML vs. Blackhawks
  • Flames ML vs. Coyotes

Together, this comes out to nice longshot odds of +578.

A parlay hit would get $578 back, not $678 like a normal bet. This is because the book takes the stake back after you bet with bonus bets, win or lose.

But a miss profits nothing, so it’s smart to bet carefully with bonus bets.
