Golden State Warriors (+196) vs. Boston Celtics (-240) at Caesars

The second rematch of the 2022 NBA Finals will commence in Boston at 7:30 p.m. ET Thursday. The first meeting on Dec. 10 ended in a 123-107 Warriors victory. But the Celtics (33-12) have sustained the best pace within the Eastern Conference while the Warriors have lost four of their last six after posting a five-game win streak through the new year.

Golden State is still a sharp shooting team with 117.5 PPG and have impressive numbers in the assists department with 29.3, which leads the league. Steph Curry is hitting 42.1% of his threes and stands at the top of the field with 4.9 per game. He's spearheading the club with a 29.3 point average and just bucketed 41 on Monday against the Wizards.

The Celtics are slightly better on offense posting an average of 118.8 points per game. Interestingly enough, Boston allows the least amount of assists per game with 22.6. They're the toughest team in the league to block averaging 3.7 against. As well rounded as a lineup they present, it's Jason Tatum's team as he's carrying a monstrous 31.1 point average and 8.1 rebounds.

Thursday will be an opportunity for the Celtics to extend their win streak to eight games and make it 12 wins in their last 14. They hold a 6.5 points over the Warriors and the total is set at 238.5 at Caesars Sportsbook. Let's look into why Jacob McKenna suggested this will hop that threshold Thursday night in his Warriors-Celtics preview:

When these teams met earlier this season the combined point total ended at 230 points, but I think that we will likely seeing a higher scoring affair this time around. Due to their lack of a defensive presence this season, the over had been a great pick to take while the Warriors are on the road.

The Warriors generate an average the 103.08 offensive possessions on the road this season, giving themselves plenty of opportunities to score despite being horrible on the defensive end. The over has also been kind to the Celtics this season, hitting in 51.2% of their games overall and 66.7% of their home games.

Golden State’s last three games have seen an average total of 250.67, with those games coming against teams with a record below .500. I think Boston has a great chance to even up the season series here with a win, but I prefer backing the over as I think both teams are going to have the chance to score plenty of buckets tonight.

How The Promo Will Play

Your first bet will be the promotion, so make it one you're confident in. Let's go with a featured same game parlay involving some of the above sentiments.

The Pick: Tatum 30+ Points + Curry 30+ Points + Over 238.5 at +390

A $100 bet would get you $490 like any other circumstance ($100 x 3.90) if it hits. If not however, you get the $100 back in bet credits.

We wanted to pick something with a high line because it's good for your expected value, which is winnings over time. That's why you should always seek plus-money (+250, +300, +500 etc.). Forget about how many bets you win or lose. If you give a flat-betting approach to plus-money wagers, you'll accrue more profit over time.

In the case of a loss, let's say the $100 is placed on the Trail Blazers to beat the Pistons at +115. Here's some intel from Andrew O'Connor-Watts:

The Blazers have been going through a rough patch recently, going just 3-7 both straight up and against the spread. However, five of those losses came on the road, where Portland has struggled. At home, they have the eighth-best record in the league at 11-7-1.

One trend I came across while tinkering with BetLabs is how the Blazers play at home after an against-the-spread win. This season, they’re 4-0 in these spots.

A win would get $115 payout and the bet credits disappear while a loss would lose the $100 and gain nothing. This is why we're hearing less and less of "risk-free" jargon around the sports betting community. Eventually, the risk will appear.
