Bonus Bets With FanDuel

Bonus bets are different from money you’ve won or deposited into your account. These can only be used to bet with, not withdraw. Once used, they disappear.

Our bonus betting strategy stresses to bet on risk. Our Steve Petrella broke down why in our Massachusetts promo bonus betting guide:

Example 1: You’ll win $20 if the $50 bet credit wins. The probability a -250 favorite wins is 71.43%.

The EV, in this case, is 71.43% x $20, which equals $14.28. So over an infinite number of bets, that $50 will be worth just $14.

Example 2: Now let’s bet a +250 underdog with a $50 bet credit.

You’ll win $125 if it wins, and you can expect the bet to win 28.57% of the time.

The EV, in this case, is 28.57% x $125, which equals $35.71. So over an infinite number of bets, that $50 will be worth $35.71.

Of course, there are longshots that have upside and some that don’t make a lot of sense. Betting the Rockets moneyline against the Celtics at +590 might be one of them.

But let’s try a different example. Say we bet on the Rockets to cover the 12.5-point spread along with the over of 231.5 in a same game parlay. This pans out to +264 odds.

Using $100 in bonus bets on this parlay, we would either strike $264 of real cash in return or nothing. Once the $100 is bet with, it’s gone.

Action’s Celtics-Rockets Analysis

The Celtics may have mopped the floors with the Rockets in their Dec. 27 meeting that resulted in a 126-102 decision. But the Rockets ironically lead the league in offensive rebounds with 13.1 and just recently went on a six-game streak ATS.

Houston is also just over .500 in over/unders with a 34-31-2 record.

Here’s a sneak peak to Avery Yang’s latest on adjusting data between the Celtics and Rockets in his ActionPro report:

For Celtics vs. Rockets, it believes the correct spread should allot the Rockets just 8.1 points on the point spread. Meaning, a fair moneyed price would slate Houston as +8.1 (+100) underdogs.

Meanwhile, the best price on the market has the Rockets at +12.5 (-110) at FanDuel. That’s a nearly 10% betting edge, easily the best value you’ll find in the NBA spread market on Monday.

Quick Tip: How to Hedge

In sports betting circles, you may have heard the term “hedge” thrown around a time or two. Hedging is a more grounded approach to betting; a bettor will wage on the opposite side of their original bet when the odds of it winning becomes more realistic.

Here’s an example: Let’s say I bet $1,000 on the Rockets to defeat the Celtics at +590. The Rockets are leading by two possessions with less than a minute to go. The +590 is obviously no longer available at this point, as the Rockets moneyline would be minus since they’re leading.

I can either ride the bet out and hope the Rockets can secure the massive upset, or hedge the bet to insure my $1,000. This means I would place a wager on the Celtics to come from behind and win the game, which would be plus money since they’re down. It would cut my winnings if the Rockets still win, but also provide a profit in the case of either result.

It’s revered for an excellent same game parlay and parlay product and unmatched pricing on player props.
