Indiana is officially a $1 billion sports betting state.
The Indiana Gaming Commission published its December wagering numbers on Tuesday morning. The state pulled in $313.1 million in bets to push its 2020 handle to $1.23 billion.
Football made up 32% of the handle, while basketball made up 29%.
The Ameristar Casino in East Chicago, Indiana, was responsible for bringing in $125 million of that handle. That's because DraftKings, PointsBet, theScore and The Stars Group all have their mobile skins tied to that casino.
Owned by Penn Gaming, the casino announced recently it would rebrand its own retail book as the Barstool Sportsbook.
Indiana's $1.23 billion yearly handle is likely to finish in the top five among legal sports states, behind New Jersey, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
