Legal New York online sports betting has made its grand introduction. Nine approved NY sports betting apps have launched in time for the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl LVI in February.

With online sports betting now legal in the Empire State, several sports teams and organizations have already strategically positioned themselves by aligning themselves with a number of sports betting operators.

Let's take a look a some of the more significant announced partnerships between brands and sports businesses.

Madison Square Garden

BetMGM

In early November, BetMGM reached a multi-year agreement with Madison Square Garden. This partnership will provide a platform for BetMGM across digital channels, as well as in-arena perks.

BetMGM will receive courtside and ribbon signage, as well as other signage and branding at Knicks and Rangers games. BetMGM will also appear on digital boards outside of The Garden and MSG Networks.

Caesars Sportsbook

Shortly after the BetMGM deal, Caesars Sportsbook joined MSG as a partner.

Caesars will have a branded, premium hospitality space inside MSG that will be open for all Knicks and Rangers games, as well as other select events. Caesars Sportsbook will have a branded hospitality space inside MSG that will be open for all Knicks and New York Rangers games. The space will undergo a full refurbishment ahead of the 2022-2023 Knicks and Rangers season and will include Caesars branding with special guest appearances, giveaways and more.

Buffalo Bills

FanDuel

On Jan. 6, the Buffalo Bills and FanDuel announced a multi-year partnership, which will make FanDuel the official mobile sports betting partner of the team. In addition to the use of official Bills marks and logos, FanDuel will have access to a range of media assets like TV and radio spots in an effort to engage Bills fans. There will also be in-game signage and activations at the Bills' Highmark Stadium.

Who's Next?

With MSG and the Bills making splashes on sports betting deals ahead of New York's Jan. 8 sports betting launch, what other sportsbooks could potentially strike deals with sports organizations?

New York has plenty of opportunities for sportsbooks to partner with stadiums, similar to MSG. Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, Barclays Center, UBS Arena, KeyBank Center are all potential suitors in the near future. The benefits could include a sportsbook at or near the teams’ venues or perhaps kiosks scattered around the venues.

The Brooklyn Nets have backed New York sports betting bids by Fanatics and Penn National Gaming. Also, the New York Yankees and Mets, Buffalo Sabres and New York City FC aligned themselves behind the sports betting bid from DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM.

It's only a matter of time before other sports organizations announce more partnerships with these brands and others.
