Bettors Lose on Curious Overturned Cano Home Run
The total for the first five innings was listed at 4 or 4.5, depending on your book. The Mariners held a 4-0 lead with two outs and nobody on in the top of the fifth inning when Robinson Cano stepped to the plate. He belted a pitch over the wall to give the Mariners a 5-0 lead, which locked in the over for the first five innings.

Peak night sweats. After taking a look, the umps inexplicably reversed the call, claiming the ball hit the yellow line. As a result, the Cano home run suddenly became a double and a run came off the board.
I have yet to see one angle where this doesn't look like a home run — and the call on the field was a homer to boot! How would a ball bounce off a padded wall like that? Anybody want to clarify exactly what the umps saw?
Cano got stranded at second base, which kept the Mariners' lead at 4-0. James Paxton then got through a clean bottom half of the fifth inning, which doomed anybody who wagered on the first five over to either a push or a loss.
To make matters worse, the full game over of 7.5 ended up hitting. Luckily, that run didn't cost Mariners ML backers, as Seattle held on for a 5-4 victory.
I hope the umps at least cashed some first five under 4.5 tickets.
