MLB Tuesday Weather: Conditions Ripe for Offense in Baltimore

- Winds will be blowing out to center in Pittsburgh and Baltimore, which has their respective Weather Ratings right behind Coors Field for best of the day.
- The Windy City won't be very windy itself, but overall poor conditions have the Weather Rating for Dodgers-Cubs at just 16.
The late Hall of Famer Ernie Banks once said, “It’s a beautiful day for a ballgame, let’s play two.” As I sit at my dining room table 30 minutes north of Boston and look out the window, there’s one thing I can assure you of … it’s not a beautiful day.
The Tigers and BoSox are playing two, but you’d have to pay me to go sit in those cold, hard, wet seats on this dreary 50-degree overcast day.
While there are no washouts in the forecast today, it will definitely still feel like April at most ballparks around the country.
Highest Weather Rating
- Nats at Rockies: 71
- White Sox at Orioles: 63
- Diamondbacks at Pirates: 57
Weather Ratings are a proprietary number created by FantasyLabs, which are on a 0-100 scale, with 100 being the best hitting atmosphere and 0 being the best pitching atmosphere. Weather Rating takes into account temperature, wind speed, wind direction, stadium elevation, humidity and atmospheric pressure.
After an unusually low Weather Rating in the low 40s at Coors Field, conditions are much better. It’s not like it mattered, as the Nats and Rockies combined for 12 runs yesterday. There is still a breeze blowing in that’s keeping the rating from being closer to 100.
Camden Yards should play smaller than normal tonight, as temperatures in the mid-70s will be accompanied by wind blowing out to center. Oddsmakers are daring folks to take the over with a total of 10, and two-thirds of bettors are still biting. Not sure why anyone would doubt these dominant White Sox and Orioles pitching staffs …
After having the worst Weather Rating of the day yesterday, Pittsburgh is toward the top as PNC Park will also feature a stiff breeze blowing out. The over/under has gone from 7.5 to 8 since opening.
