  • The Boston Red Sox are -157 favorites against the Los Angeles Dodgers (+141) in Game 1 of the World Series.
  • With Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale facing off, the over/under is listed at 7.5 runs.
  • Using our betting tools, we analyze how professionals are betting this game.

Recreational bettors love action and will normally bet on the World Series no matter which teams are playing in it. But throw in marquee names such as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox, and Tuesday night's Game 1 betting handle will be through the roof.

When an overload of public money hits the market, oddsmakers are often forced to shade betting lines to account for heavy, one-sided action. This provides an opportunity for professionals to pick off line value that normally wouldn't be available during regular-season games.

And according to The Action Network's betting tools, sharps are doing just that for Tuesday night's Game 1 (8:09 p.m. ET on FOX).

BookMaker opened the over/under at 7.5. While 54% of tickets wagered on the total have played the over, 63% of dollars wagered have come in on the under as of writing (see live data here).

While betting action has not been enough to move the over/under down just yet, oddsmakers have adjusted the vig from -110 to -125 on the under. This reveals that sportsbooks are heavy with under money and are reacting by making the price to bet over 7.5 more attractive in an attempt to balance their action.

Sports Insights' Bet Signals have also weighed in, triggering a Steam Move on the under.

Steam refers to sudden, uniform line movement across the betting market that is usually the result of respected bettors getting down on the same side of one game at multiple sportsbooks, all at once.

Recreational bettors root for high-scoring games and bet accordingly as a result. However, wiseguys are using that to their advantage and are instead playing the under.
