- According to reports, Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard wants to leave San Antonio this offseason.
- Before news broke, Bookmaker.eu listed Leonard at -200 to play for a new team next season. After the news broke, the odds settled at -700 at the time of publication.
- The Lakers are now the betting favorites to land both Leonard and LeBron James.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Sham Charania, Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard does not want to return to San Antonio next season. Citing league sources, Charania is also reporting that Leonard has “grown uncomfortable” with the team and is ready to move on.
Betting odds for Leonard’s 2018-19 team also shifted quickly as news broke. Before Charania’s report, Bookmaker.eu listed Leonard at +150 to return to San Antonio and -200 to be on a different roster. Within minutes, odds that Kawhi leaves shifted to -480 as opposed to +340 that he stays.
At the time of publication, those numbers settled at -700 to leave and +500 to stay. The Los Angeles Lakers are the favorite to secure the services of the All-Star forward, according to Bookmaker.eu:
- Lakers: -200
- Spurs: +500
- Celtics: +1200
- Suns: +1500
- Cavs: +1000
- 76ers: +1500
- Field: +500
- Clippers: +1500
- Bucks: +2000
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is also reporting that Leonard hopes to land in Los Angeles, ideally with the Lakers.
Considering the Lakers are already the overwhelming favorites to land LeBron James and Paul George (-220 on MyBookie), Leonard forcing a move to LA could be part of a new super team forming out West.
