  • Monday's nine-game NBA slate features three player prop bets offering value
  • This piece will focus on Hornets G/F Nic Batum, Spurs F Rudy Gay and Thunder G Dennis Schroder

Prop bets can be a great way to get action on a game. Bookmakers don’t have to worry about taking a lot of action on them, so there isn’t as great an incentive to post a competitive line.

As a result, props can be some of the most exploitable bets on the board.

These props can become downright unfair when you combine them with the FantasyLabs Player Prop tool.

Monday’s best props focus on three of the slate’s nine games:

  • Boston Celtics at Charlotte Hornets: 7 p.m. ET
  • San Antonio Spurs at New Orleans Pelicans: 8 p.m. ET
  • Oklahoma City Thunder at Sacramento Kings: 10 p.m. ET on NBATV

Let’s dive right in.

Hornets G/F Nicolas Batum

The Pick: Under 9.5 points (-114)

Batum has started the year extremely slow, averaging just 9.1 points per game, and its starting to effect his playing time.

He averaged just 26.4 minutes over his past five games and played just 19 in his last game vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. That game went to overtime, and Batum had zero personal fouls, so there could definitely be a changing of the guard taking place in Charlotte right now.

Even if he does return to around 30 minutes per game, he’s in an absolutely brutal spot vs. the Boston Celtics. They rank first in defensive efficiency and just 23rd in pace, which makes them one of the toughest teams in the league to face from a scoring perspective. The Hornets are implied for just 107.75 points, which is more than seven points lower than their average on the year (114.9).

This is one of my favorite props of the day, and I’d play the under up to -180. That said, it becomes much less appealing if it drops to nine or lower.

Spurs F Rudy Gay

The Pick: Over six rebounds (-130)

Gay was initially listed as questionable for tonight’s contest vs. the New Orleans Pelicans, but will suit up for the second leg of a back-to-back.

He returned to the starting lineup in their last game and logged 30 minutes, which bodes well for his rebounding prospects in tonight’s contest. He has averaged 7.5 rebounds in just 27.3 minutes per game this season, and the Pelicans have played at the third fastest pace.

The over has a Bet Quality of 10 using the FantasyLabs Player Props tool, but there’s still a chance that the Spurs look to reduce Gay’s workload on today’s slate. It stops looking like a value around -150.

Thunder G Dennis Schroder

The Pick: Under 18.5 points (-105)

This is an interesting prop to consider. The line is set at 18.5 because Russell Westbrook was expected to miss tonight’s contest vs. the Kings, who have played at the fastest pace in the league this season.

That said, Westbrook has rejoined the team earlier than expected following the birth of his twin girls on Sunday, and its possible that he could find himself back in the starting lineup.

If he were to play, this line is obviously way too high: Schroder has averaged just 12.3 points per 36 minutes when sharing the court with Westbrook this season.

Even if Westbrook is unable to return, Schroder isn’t necessarily a lock to hit the over. He’s played eight games with Westbrook out of the lineup this season and has exceed 19 points in just three of them.

I love this bet because it has massive equity if Westbrook plays and could still be a winner if he doesn’t. Still, there’s definitely some risk to it, so I wouldn’t play it if it got higher than -140.
