  • The NBA Injury Report details the slate's key injuries and their betting and DFS impact.
  • In this piece, we'll break down the impact of the injuries to Anthony Davis as well as a couple of Atlanta Hawks' starters.

Monday's NBA slate features seven games with several injuries and questionable players. We'll analyze two situations:

  • Atlanta Hawks at Miami Heat: 7:30 p.m. ET
  • New Orleans Pelicans at Utah Jazz: 9 p.m. ET

Atlanta Hawks

Update at 5:45 p.m. ET: John Collins (illness) is doubtful. Taurean Prince (personal) is out. Alex Len (knee), Dewayne Dedmon (shin), Vince Carter (knee) and Kevin Huerter (back) are probable.

Injuries: John Collins (illness) and Taurean Prince (personal) are questionable.

Injury background: Collins missed the previous two games due to an illness. He was originally doubtful prior to Sunday's afternoon win.

Taurean Prince is awaiting the birth of his child and didn't travel with the team prior to Sunday. There's a chance he rejoins the team in Miami.

Tonight's impact: The Hawks are playing their third game in four days, a stretch that began with a loss in four overtimes. On the front end of the back-to-back on Sunday, no Hawks starter played more than 27 minutes, and coach Lloyd Pierce used 11 players.

Minutes may continue to be a concern if the Hawks are without their two starters. However, only three Hawks who played yesterday cost more than $4,000 on DraftKings, and the Hawks have ranked in the top 10 in offensive efficiency since the start of February, per Cleaning the Glass.

Trae Young has played at least 31 minutes in six of the seven games since Jeremy Lin was bought out, but Young's ejection yesterday ended that streak. Young's minutes have been raised in Lin's absence because Jaylen Adams is the only other nominal point guard on the roster. DeAndre' Bembry and Kevin Huerter have also spent sporadic minutes as the primary ball handler.

Alex Len has started two of the last three games Collins has missed, and he's supplied 45.25 and 46.0 DraftKings points in those wins, respectively. Dewayne Dedmon, Vince Carter, and Alex Poythress served as the power forwards in Collins' absence Sunday. Len costs no more than $4,000 on DraftKings and FanDuel, and he'll certainly be one of the most highly owned players if Collins remains out.

The Hawks have won the first three games against the Heat this season and have averaged 114.6 points per game in the season series. They've scored at least 120 points in five of their last six games, and all of the games were decided by single digits. The Heat have allowed at least 119 points in four of their last five games — three of which occurred with Hassan Whiteside injured.

The Hawks are underdogs and their current implied total sits at 108.75. The Heat have ranked 24th with a 113.0 Defensive Rating at home over the last two months, and with Young out for most of the second half on Sunday, the Hawks scored 56 points without a legitimate point guard. Playing time for the Hawks' regulars is the primary concern due to the condensed schedule.

New Orleans Pelicans C Anthony Davis (illness) is questionable.

Injury background: Davis was ruled out a day prior to Saturday's win for rest, but coach Alvin Gentry said during the pregame media availability that Davis was also dealing with an illness at the time.

Gentry planted the seed Saturday night creating a legitimate reason for Davis to sit the first game of a home-and-home series vs. the Jazz tonight.

Tonight's impact: Davis hasn't played more than 21 minutes in a game since the All-Star break, and the Pelicans won three straight games sans Davis. Jahlil Okafor has started when Davis has been unavailable, but the Pelicans have notched a team-low -16.1 Net Rating with Okafor on the court over the last six games.

Okafor has averaged 32.25 FanDuel points per game in 12 starts since January. However, he hasn't posted more than 21.9 FanDuel points in his last four starts as Cheick Diallo has become a prioritized member of the rotation. While Okafor profiles as a punt option at $3,400 on DraftKings, Diallo may carry the higher ceiling if Davis is unable to play.

In the games Davis and Nikola Mirotic (traded) have jointly been unavailable over the past two months, Diallo has averaged a team-high and FantasyLabs' +7.8 FanDuel Plus/Minus, per the NBA On/Off tool. Jrue Holiday and Julius Randle have averaged more than 41.0 FanDuel points in those same games minus Davis and Mirotic.

If Davis suits up, expect another 20 minutes of solid play. He costs $6,700 on DraftKings for the first time in the FantasyLabs' database dating back to the 2014-15 season, and he's averaged 1.57 DraftKings points since returning to the lineup early in February after the trade demand and sprained index finger. His salary-based expectation nearly matches his DraftKings per-minute production on a 20-minute limit.

The Pelicans are presently 9.5-point road underdogs, and the Jazz have posted a +9.2 Net Rating over the last month — the third-highest mark over that span. If Jrue Holiday is able to contain Donovan Mitchell, the Pelicans have a chance to keep the game close. However, their minutes with Okafor on the court have been detrimental, and the Jazz have been elite in the last eight games.
