- Wednesday's 10-game slate features four NBA player prop bets offering value.
- This piece will focus on Wizards F Trevor Ariza, Hornets PG Kemba Walker, Timberwolves C Karl-Anthony Towns and Kings C Willie Cauley-Stein.
Wednesday’s best NBA player props focus on four of the slate’s 10 games:
- Washington Wizards at Detroit Pistons: 7 p.m. ET
- Charlotte Hornets at Brooklyn Nets: 7:30 p.m. ET
- Minnesota Timberwolves at Chicago Bulls: 8 p.m. ET
- Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles Clippers: 10:30 p.m. ET
As a reminder, you can dig deeper on these and many other prop bets by using our FantasyLabs NBA Player Props Tool. It leverages our projections against five of the most popular online sportsbooks and grades each prop on a scale of one to 10. The tool crushed on Christmas Day, going 16-7-1 on plays with a bet quality of at least eight.
Wizards F Trevor Ariza
The Pick: Over 5.5 rebounds (-150)
Ariza has played a huge role for the Wizards since being acquired from the Suns, logging at least 36 minutes in three of his first four games. The only exception was when Washington played on the second leg of a back-to-back off a triple-overtime game the night before.
Ariza has pulled down at least six rebounds in each game that he’s played significant minutes in and he should continue to get all the run he can handle with Otto Porter still sidelined with a knee injury.
The over is listed at -150, but don’t let the juice scare you: This is one of the highest rated props of the day. I’d play it up to -200.
Hornets PG Kemba Walker
The Pick: Over 22.5 points (-125)
Walker has failed to eclipse 22.5 points in four of his past five games, but there are reasons to be optimistic.
For starters, he remains the focal point of the Hornets offense, and his usage rate of 30.8% ranks ninth in the league. He’s been plagued by some poor shooting numbers in December, making just 37.4% of his shots from the field and 29.5% of his shots from 3-point range, so he’s due for positive regression.
I’m going to keep buying Kemba in the prop market (and DFS) at a reduced price. I’d play this prop up to -160.
Timberwolves C Karl-Anthony Towns
The Pick: Over 11 rebounds (-114)
Towns has averaged less than seven rebounds per game over his past three, which makes this the perfect time to buy low on him. His numbers have been kept down by a combination of blowouts and poor matchups, but that shouldn’t be a problem against the Bulls.
The Timberwolves are favored by just 4 points on the road (see live odds here), and the Bulls rank just 27th in team rebound rate. Towns has averaged 12.3 rebounds per 36 minutes this season, so he should be able to do some damage on the glass as long as this game stays competitive.
Towns is one of the best rebounders in the league, so this line feels low considering the matchup. I’d play the over up to -150.
Kings C Willie Cauley-Stein
The Pick: Over 14 points (-120)
This game between the Kings and Clippers figures to be the highest scoring of the day. Both teams have played at a top-nine pace this season, and the resulting over/under of 238.5 is the top mark on the slate by more than 10 points.
The Kings’ rotation has been a bit maddening at times, but the injury to Marvin Bagley has allowed Cauley-Stein to play big minutes recently. He’s played at least 31.5 minutes in five of his past six games, including at least 35 minutes in each of his past two. He’s averaged 17.6 points per 36 minutes this season, so I like his chances of going over in this game environment.
The only thing that has stopped WCS this season has been a lack of minutes, and that hasn’t been a problem recently. I like the over up to -145.
