CBB Sharp Report: Pros Playing Wichita State-Indiana Spread, Over/Under

After an epic six-day stretch (16-3 ATS, 84.2%), wiseguys came back down to earth yesterday, going 1-2 with their Monday plays.

After analyzing Tuesday's short five-game slate using the betting tools available at Sports Insights and The Action Network, I’ve identified one game receiving a double dose of sharp action from professional bettors.

Betting Terms to Know

Steam Move: Sudden, drastic and uniform line movement across the market caused by an overload of sharp action from respected players.

Reverse Line Movement: When the betting line moves in the opposite direction of the betting percentages. It’s a top smart money indicator.

Line Freeze: When one side is getting heavy betting, but the line won’t budge, indicating sharp liability on the other side.

Juice: The tax or commission that bettors must pay sportsbooks in order for them to accept your wager. A -115 juice means a bettor would have to wager $115 to win $100.

Wichita State @ Indiana

Sharp angle: Wichita State (moved from +5.5 to +4)

Squares (recreational bettors who bet for fun based on gut instinct) are relatively undecided when it comes to this NIT spread. But wiseguys have taken a clear position.

In the most heavily bet game of the night, 1-seed Indiana (19-15) opened as a 5.5-point favorite against 6-seed Wichita State (21-14). Currently 53% of spread bets are grabbing the points with the Shockers, indicating a slight public lean.

However, the Shockers are also receiving 72% of spread dollars, signaling heavy sharp action from pro bettors.

Meanwhile, Indiana has fallen from -5.5 to -4. In a vacuum, moderate betting shouldn't move a line whatsoever, aside from a slight juice adjustment. So we know this 1.5-point move toward Wichita State is a result of smart money.

Sharp angle: Under (moved from 140 to 138)

Wiseguys aren't just getting down on the spread. They're also eyeing the over/under.

This total opened at 138. Early betting pushed the line up to 140. That's when wiseguys hammered the under at a inflated, overpriced number.
