- Kansas is a 2.5-point favorite over Duke in tonight's opening matchup of the Champions Classic.
- Sharps, however, are betting the over/under, as evidenced by the tools at The Action Network.
For most college basketball fans and bettors, the season doesn’t really get exciting for a couple of months (once conference play begins to heat up).
Opening night, however, always brings with it some cross-conference play between some of the biggest names in the country, and will undoubtedly feature the most heavily bet games of the night even with two college football games on the docket.
Sharp bettors aren’t so concerned with the excitement level of the season — they’ll be betting college hoops throughout the first few months regardless — but that doesn’t mean they aren’t finding value on some of tonight’s biggest opening matchups, including No. 3 Kansas taking on No. 4 Duke at Madison Square Garden.

The spread on this game has taken an interesting ride since opening, as the earliest books opened Duke as a 4-point favorite, only to push the line all the way to its current mark of Kansas -2.5.
Some sharp action on the Jayhawks has helped that line move, as evidenced by three Sports Insights Bet Signals — indications of market-wide line movement as a result of professional money — have hit Kansas at lines ranging from +1 to a pick’em.
There have, however, been two signals going the other way on Duke, meaning not all wiseguys are in agreement with the significant spread change.
The total, on the other hand, has sharps in one-sided agreement, as least as of the middle of the day Tuesday.
After opening at 152/152.5, the number has been raised to 153.5 with 55% of bets hitting the over. Those bets have accounted for 63% of actual money being wagered on the total, meaning bigger bettors — the ones more likely to be sharps — are among the slight majority on the over.
Just before 11 a.m. ET, two Sports Insights Bet Signals hit the over at 152 and 153, getting this line to the current number.
