Notes

  • The Mountain West "West" showdown is finally here between UNLV and San Diego State. The theme with UNLV remains the same with their excellent rushing offense and poor rush defense. Don't be fooled by that final score from San Diego State beating NIU. They were outgained by the Huskies and gave up plenty on the ground. Don't forget San Diego State may have overlook to Boise. Although I have a future on UNLV for the conference, I would play anything north of a touchdown next week on the Rebels.
  • Revenge spot for Southern Miss? UTSA won the 2016 game, but was outgained by Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles looked terrible in Week 5 against North Texas, and UTSA may expose more of USM through the air.
  • Tulsa is facing their third option offense in a row with Tulane. The Golden Hurricanes have not covered and lost outright the past two weeks against option offenses New Mexico and Navy.
  • In my opinion, Washington State at Oregon is the best game on the card. Wazzu has always had Oregon's number in the past, but in this year's version we have both offenses and defenses ranked in the top 30. Both teams also rank in the top 10 nationally in sack rate. Oregon held Cal to an amazing 8 rushing yards in Week 5; expect Wazzu to be nothing but passes from the first snap.
