Week 8 Saturday six pack: Six college football pounders

Week 8 Saturday six pack: Six college football pounders article feature image
Each week, I will pick out a new variety six pack for Saturday morning in addition to my six favorite situational sides on the college football card. Short and simple.

Florida State -6

63-20. That was how bad Florida State lost at Louisville last year. They've had this game circled for the past year. I think Ville has quit. Jimbo Fisher needs some type of signature win this year, and I think he gets it here.

Michigan State -6

Major letdown for Indiana after a devastating home overtime loss to Michigan. Speaking of overtime losses, Michigan State went down in OT to Indiana last year in Bloomington. Sparty gets their revenge today against a flat IU squad.

Wake Forest +4

Classic sandwich spot for Georgia Tech, who is coming off of a devastating last-second road loss to Miami with a trip to Clemson on deck. Wake Forest comes into this week with a totally different mindset, as they will be coming off of a bye week, which will give them extra time to prepare for the option attack of the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech goes down ATS for the first time this season.

Baylor +9

I think Baylor, a team desperate for their first win of the season, beats West Virginia today; therefore, I will gladly take the nine points. West Virginia is coming off a very fortunate home win against Texas Tech, a game in which they trailed by 18 in the second half. I can't see the Mountaineers getting up for a winless Baylor team in Waco, especially with a game against Oklahoma State in Morgantown next week.

USC +4

I don't understand all of the Notre Dame love out there. I have the Trojans favored in this game and think they will expose the Notre Dame secondary. I believe USC is very undervalued in the market after struggling to cover all season, but they have at least played strong competition.

Here are Notre Dame's wins this year:

  • Temple
  • Michigan State
  • Boston College
  • Miami Ohio
  • North Carolina

Even if you include Notre Dame's home loss to Georgia, they still have yet to face an elite passing offense. The Irish secondary is ripe for the picking.

Tulane +11

South Florida actually has to play a team with a pulse on the road. It's a good time to buy low on the Green Wave, who are not an easy to team to prepare for. Take a look at Collin Wilson's CW9 article for more insight into this side.
