  • Following a week that featured several canceled games due to Hurricane Florence, this weekend should lack any extreme weather.
  • Just a handful of games will have double-digit winds or hot temperatures.
  • The weekend won't be completely dry, as several games have a decent chance at precipitation.

Last weekend's weather was wild. In fact, too wild.

Give me 20-plus mph winds all day, but don't give me three feet of rain that will cancel all the games in the area — not to mention put lives in danger, flood entire counties and cause billions of dollars' worth of damage.

This week's weather is rather demure. Bashful. Coy. The opposite of wild.

Winds

  • Penn State @ Illinois – 11 mph: Over/Under 60
  • UNLV @ Arkansas St. – 10 mph: Over/Under 67
  • New Mexico St. @ UTEP – 10 mph: Over/Under 48.5
  • Florida Intl. @ Miami Florida – 10 mph: Over/Under 56

Historically, games with 10+ mph winds have gone under 54.4% of the time.

There are hardly any games this week where hats will be flying off. The totals have dropped in each of the latter three games, while the Illinois game (on Friday) has seen a rise from 57.5 to 60.

Heat

  • Western Michigan @ Georgia St. – 86 degrees: Over/Under 63
  • Texas A&M @ Alabama – 87 degrees: Over/Under 61
  • McNeese St. @ BYU – 85 degrees: Over/Under N/A
  • Clemson @ Georgia Tech – 86 degrees: Over/Under 51.5
  • Florida Intl @ Miami Florida – 85 degrees: Over/Under 56
  • Northern Illinois @ Florida St. – 87 degrees: Over/Under 45

Historically, games with 85+ degree temperatures have gone over 54.7% of the time.

The heat is on its way out. Fall technically begins on Saturday, and the hot temperatures are few and far between.

We'll probably have some more stragglers over the next month, but there aren't going to be any more slates that have 30 games of 85+ degree heat like we had in Week 1.

With all of these games within a couple degrees of 85, there's a chance none ends up fitting by Saturday if there's a slight change in the forecast.

Rain

The following games have greater than a 20% chance of rain, led by Navy at SMU which has between a 50% and 60% chance of rain as it currently stands.

  • Navy @ SMU
  • Gardner Webb @ App St.
  • Florida @ Tennessee
  • UNLV @ Arkansas St.
  • N.C. State @ Marshall
  • Troy @ UL Monroe
  • Mississippi St. @ Kentucky
  • South Alabama @ Memphis

The total has dropped in that SMU game from 66 to 61.5 at Pinnacle.

None of these games is expected to be a washout or anything, but a sloppy field could affect each game differently depending on each team's style of play.
