Sportsbooks Pull Ohio State Betting Odds Following Urban Meyer Reports

- According to a report from Brett McMurphy, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer knew of domestic abuse allegations former assistant coach Zach Smith.
- Sportsbooks are reacting by removing futures and prop bets associated with Ohio State, meaning bettors cannot currently place those wagers.
Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has reportedly known of domestic abuse allegations against former assistant coach Zach Smith, who was fired on July 23, since 2015. Meyer was placed an administrative leave by the university on Wednesday, causing sportsbooks to pull some of the Buckeyes' odds.
In a post on his Facebook page, college football reporter Brett McMurphy writes that both text messages he's obtained and an interview with Smith's ex-wife Courtney show that Meyer knew of the alleged domestic violence allegations. Smith played for Meyer at Bowling Green, then joined his coaching staff at Florida before following him to Columbus.
Meyer denied any knowledge of the abuse at Big Ten Media Days last week, saying he would have fired Smith in 2015 had he known.

Sportsbooks are being proactive should Meyer ultimately receive discipline from Ohio State. Here's where Ohio State's futures and props stood as of Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. ET:
In order to protect itself from stale lines should Meyer face discipline, books have removed all of the odds above, with the exception of the Buckeyes' Week 1 line against Oregon State, which remains -37.5.
Sportsbooks will continue to monitor the situation and repost once there is more clarity regarding Meyer's future at Ohio State.
