Bet To Watch

UTSA Under 5 wins (-120)

The Roadrunners have been a favorite of bettors for years after fully embracing their nickname with #MeepMeep hashtags and GIFs of the animated Loony Tunes character. But those tweets may be minimal in 2018.

UTSA ranks 127th overall in returning production, leaving the cupboard bare for head coach Frank Wilson. Not only will there be fresh faces on the field, but both coordinators are new, too.

The coaching staff will rely on graduate transfers and JUCO players to fill the gaps, but victories may be sparse. UTSA faces three Power 5 teams out of the gate (Arizona State, Baylor, Kansas State). Look for the Roadrunners to play stingy rush defense while slowing the game offensively. UTSA ranked 119th in adjusted pace in 2017, very un-Roadrunner like.

The conference schedule presents a few challenges. UTSA draws FIU out of the East and hosts West favorites Louisiana Tech and North Texas. The game at Marshall on Nov. 17 should serve as the decisive one for a UTSA Under 5 (-120) wager.

What else you need to know about UTSA

UTSA is 4-12 against the spread as a home favorite since 2014. This situation will apply against Texas State, UTEP and Florida International.
