After the entire 2020 NFL preseason was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio will kickoff this year's exhibition season.

In the 2021 edition of the NFL preseason opener, the Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-point favorites over the Dallas Cowboys, with an over/under of 31.5.

Interestingly, after fans and bettors get a taste of NFL action on Aug. 5, they'll have to wait seven more days for the full start of the preseason with Washington visiting New England and and Pittsburgh visiting Philadelphia on Aug. 12.

Hall of Fame Game Betting Trends

In the 14 NFL Hall of Fame Games tracked by our Bet Labs software, favorites have a slight edge at 6-5-3 against the spread (ATS).

Thirteen of those 14 games closed with spreads of three or fewer points, while the Washington Football Team was the largest favorite after closing at -4.5 against the Indianapolis Colts back in 2018.

And yes, Washington did cover that number by beating Indy, 30-16.

Hall of Fame Game totals have been relatively balanced as well over the past 14 seasons, with overs owning an 8-6 edge.

The lowest over/under (31.5) during that span came in the same Washington vs. Colts 2008 matchup that also closed with the largest spread, while the highest total was four years later when the Arizona Cardinals vs. New Orleans Saints matchup closed at 37 in the 2012 Hall of Fame Game.

And as you read above, the latest Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh over/under movement has pushed that number down to 31.5, currently tying for the lowest Hall of Fame Game total tracked by our Bet Labs software.
