2018 NFL Draft: Pre-Partying Round 1 at AT&T Stadium
Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports
I’m writing this at 7:15 pm ET, about 45 minutes before Round 1 of the 2018 NFL draft is scheduled to begin.
Here are a couple random items tangentially related to the draft.
Stormy & Proppy
- Stormy Daniels is performing at a nearby club this weekend. Of course.
- I’m feeling good about most of my many prop bets.
Despite the fact that Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield now seems locked in as the No. 1 pick, I feel good about the process that earlier led me to Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen. In fact, after all the line movement today on the “Who will be the No. 1 pick?” prop, I decided to free-roll an investment on Allen at +900 by covering it with a bet on Mayfield at -280. On this bet, if Mayfield is the pick, I’ll break even. If Allen is the pick, I’ll win big. Given that a couple of days ago Allen was around +100, I think I’m getting a little value.
Eating Food & Living the Dream
When I woke up this morning, I was just a guy with dreams of attending the draft pre-party outside of AT&T Stadium and eating as much food as possible.

And now, thanks to a chance meeting with a well-connected and very generous person at NFL.com, I have a ticket to the event.
I’ll be tweeting from the draft and jumping on with Matt Perrault of SB Nation Radio after the first 10 picks or so to talk about the action.
Aside from @MatthewHoltVP and @Covers_Vegas being on site w me-updates from Dallas w @ActionNetworkHQ and @Bet_Labs own @MattFtheOracle and @CMTubbs in Houston on the DFS side of the draft. We will cover the #NFLDraft from a gambling + DFS angle all night https://t.co/OvZ0dmkA7a

As long as the Cowboys don’t draft Calvin Ridley tonight, this is a great day.
