- An anonymous high-roller, known as "Bettor X," has re-emerged just in time to wager millions of dollars on Super Bowl 53 between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.
- The same bettor cleaned out Vegas sportsbooks last year with huge wagers on the Eagles moneyline.
A legendary Vegas bettor is back — and he’s going heavy on the Rams.
The Action Network has confirmed that “Bettor X” placed three moneyline bets totaling $3.8 million on Los Angeles to beat the Patriots in Super Bowl 53:
- $2 million bet at MGM
- $1.5 million bet at William Hill
- $300,000 bet at South Point
The wagers themselves were first reported by ViSN and RotoGrinders, while ESPN’s David Purdum first reported the “Bettor X” connection.
If the Rams win, “Bettor X” would net $4.56 million (all of the wagers were made at +120 odds).
“Bettor X” took sportsbooks for a ride two years ago in the World Series. His bets on the Astros and the Dodgers at the right times paid off to net him a reported $10 million.
Then, “Bettor X,” who was described as being in his 30s having had a specialty in UFC betting, placed $8-10 million on the Eagles moneyline last year worth around $15 million, according to Purdum.
Indeed, he has put the fear into Las Vegas bookmakers, but obviously not enough to halt his betting.
While the Patriots are the majority of the spread tickets, they aren’t getting the big bets.
As a point of comparison, the South Point said it took a $220,000 bet on Saturday on the Patriots moneyline that would net $110,000.
