- The Kansas City Chiefs closed as 3.5-point favorites vs. the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.
- Kansas City and QB Patrick Mahomes were down 10 points midway through the fourth quarter.
- The Chiefs scored 14 unanswered points -- and held off a last-minute drive from the Broncos -- to win 27-23 and cover the 3.5-point spread.
If you bet the Chiefs on Monday, I hope you got the best of the number.
The Chiefs got as high as 5.5-point favorites this past week, but all of that professional action led to them closing as just 3.5-point favorites.
Sharp bettors — our own John Ewing included — felt pretty great after Denver took a 23-13 lead with 12:52 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Ewing should’ve known better.
Mahomes turned it on, leading a 75-yard drive to pull within three, and a 60-yard touchdown drive — which included this ridiculous LEFT-HANDED throw on third-and-5 — to go up four with 1:39 remaining.
But anyone who has watched a lick of the Chiefs defense this year knew the sweat wasn’t over.
Sure enough, Case Keenum and the Broncos got the ball all the way down to the Chiefs’ 28-yard line with less than 30 seconds remaining.
At this point, the spread and over/under (53) were BOTH up in the air, but a failed hook and ladder clinched the game for K.C. and under bettors.
The only people happier than Chiefs bettors right now? K.C. fans who might finally have a superstar quarterback to call their own.
