Which quarterbacks have the most favorable fantasy matchups? Who is the best streaming option? And who has a poor matchup?
Here’s a breakdown of five notable quarterbacks featured in Sean Koerner, Chris Raybon and Matthew Freedman’s Week 14 fantasy football rankings.
The No. 1 QB
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Mahomes has been the most efficient quarterback this season, averaging 0.73 fantasy points per dropback. But this week he draws a tough matchup against a Ravens defense that’s allowing just 4.6 yards per play and a league-low 28.4% scoring rate.
Or maybe it’s the Ravens defense that has the difficult matchup against an offense that’s generating a league-high 7.0 yards per play and possesses a 54.2% scoring rate.
Mahomes checks in as the unanimous No. 1 quarterback among our rankers and leads all quarterbacks in median projections in our FantasyLabs Player Models.
The Most Favorable Matchups
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Roethlisberger has a dream matchup against the Raiders, who rank dead last in sacks per game, sack rate and pressure rate, per Sports Info Solutions. They also rank 30th in Pro Football Focus’ defensive and pass coverage grades.
Roethlisberger carries an average rank of 2.3 among our rankers.
Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers
Rivers has thrown for at least two or more touchdowns in every game this season, and it’s hard to imagine that changes against a Bengals defense that’s allowing a league-high 27.2 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.
Rivers boasts the second-best floor projection in our Models among Week 14 quarterbacks.
Marcus Mariota, Tennessee Titans
Mariota ranks just 17th in fantasy points per dropback this season, and now he’ll take on a Jaguars defense that’s been solid, ranking fifth in Football Outsiders’ defensive DVOA.
It doesn’t help that the Titans re-added Mariota to the injury report because of his throwing hand. (You can monitor his status here.)
Koerner, Freedman and Raybon all have Mariota ranked outside the top 20.
The Best Streamer
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Since returning from injury, Allen’s 0.80 fantasy points per dropback trails only Russell Wilson (0.84) over the past two weeks. He’s not doing much damage through the air, but he’s rushed 22 times for 234 yards and one touchdown in his past two outings.
Allen should have a serviceable streaming floor if he keeps using his legs.
