- The Miami Dolphins pulled off one of the most improbable upsets of the 2018 NFL season thanks to a miracle 69-yard touchdown from RB Kenyan Drake.
- The Patriots closed as 8.5-point favorites and had many chances to put the game away.
- But New England let Miami hang around, and the Dolphins eventually cashed +319 moneyline bets, marking the fifth-biggest upset so far this season.
Something was off the whole game.
Despite blocking two punts and controlling the ball for more than 35 minutes, the Patriots let the Dolphins hang around all game.
And it came back to bite them in the most excruciating way possible.
Ryan Tannehill to Kenny Stills to DeVante Parker to Kenyan Drake … to the house.
Before this play, everyone who bet the Dolphins on the moneyline (closed +319 at Pinnacle) had about a <0.001% chance of cashing their ticket.
After the play, they were headed to the window to cash the fifth-biggest moneyline ticket of the NFL season.
Sportsbooks had to be thrilled, as 84% of the moneyline money was on the Patriots. It’s safe to assume New England’s loss blew up a host of moneyline parlays and teasers, as the Pats were one of the most popular bets of the week.
Here are the only upsets this season that were more improbable than Miami’s victory on Sunday:

- Bills +803 over Vikings
- Cardinals +548 over Packers
- Bucs +385 over Saints
- Titans +357 over Jaguars
The result wasn’t just massive for bettors, either. The Patriots’ and Texans’ respective losses and the Chiefs’ win gives Kansas City a two-game cushion atop the AFC with three games to play.
