Raiders vs. Chargers Betting Odds: How Windy Weather Is Moving This Over/Under
Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports
- Windy weather is expected in Los Angeles today, which is having an effect on the Raiders vs. Chargers over/under.
The penultimate week of the NFL regular season has already experienced the impacts of Mother Nature. Saturday’s Texans-Bucs matchup in Tampa was hit with some heavy winds, and ended up coming a full touchdown shy of its projected 50-point total.
That’s been a consistent theme historically, as NFL games with average wind speeds of at least 10 mph have hit the under at a 56% rate since 2005 (468-370-8).
Sunday’s strongest winds are coming out of Miami, but as kickoffs approach, the forecast in Los Angeles also looks to be one that bettors should be aware of.

Raiders vs. Chargers Weather Forecast, Betting Odds
Wind speeds are expecting to range from 9 to 11 mph at Dignity Health Sports Park for this afternoon’s Raiders-Chargers meeting, putting it right on the threshold for historical profit. Bettors and oddsmakers have taken notice, too.
After opening this number at 47, sportsbooks are down to 45 — and 44.5 at some shops — thanks to the updated forecast as well as the 57% of bets and 65% of money landing on the under (see live public betting data here).
The wind isn’t the only factor pointing toward value on the under, though.
Late in the season (from Week 11 on), divisional games with high-ish totals (44.5 and higher) have hit the under to the tune of a 62% clip, and on the rare occasion where wind meets a late-season divisional matchup, that rate shoots up to 75%.
