- Betting odds for Super Bowl 53 between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams are available and on the move.
- After opening at 59, the Super Bowl 53 over/under dropped to 58 across the sports betting market.
- Using The Action Network's betting tools, we examine why oddsmakers are already dropping the Patriots-Rams over/under.
Shortly after the New England Patriots put the finishing touches on an overtime victory against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, oddsmakers opened betting lines for Super Bowl 53.
Sharp bettors paid particular attention to the point spread, as smart money immediately moved that number.
Bettors also took a position on the Patriots-Rams over/under. At the time of writing, 58% of tickets and 67% of dollars wagered on the total have played the under.
In response, oddsmakers have adjusted from an opening total of 58.5/59, depending on the sportsbook, to a market consensus of 58, and even to 57.5 at one market-setting shop.
While early Super Bowl 53 point-spread movement was due to sharp action, steady, one-sided money is responsible for the over/under adjustment.
According to The Action Network’s Sean Koerner, 57.5 is the correct total based on our NFL power ratings, so it’s no surprise to see the opener ticking down a few points in early Super Bowl 53 betting.
Don’t be surprised to see both the spread and over/under settle in for now before slowly picking up as Super Bowl Sunday approaches.
