Tuesday’s NHL bet du jour: St. Louis at Montreal
Joe (@pointshaving) and I (@stuckey2) put our heads together each morning to come up with our consensus play(s) of the day on the ice.
Friday Recap:
An 0-3 day capped off an ugly 1-5 week. It’s time for an icy hot run. Moving on to Tuesday…
Blues -102
The sizzling Montreal Canadiens, winners of five straight, welcome the St. Louis Blues, who have dropped three straight in rather uninspiring fashion. Meanwhile, Montreal is riding high after pounding the Detroit Dead Wings for 16 goals in a home and home series, including a whopping 10 goals last time out.
It is an ideal spot to fade Montreal after such an outburst, especially since Jonathan Drouin has been ruled out. Montreal will not find it easy to crack the Blues, who sport the National Hockey League's best adjusted xGA/60 of 1.79 at 5-on-5. There will be no freebies for Montreal, as the Blues are one of the more disciplined teams in the league. Meanwhile, Montreal has taken the fifth-most minor penalties this season.
Montreal has benefited greatly from a soft schedule in November, and the Blues are far too talented of a team to go into prolonged slumps. After three consecutive losses, Mike Yeo's team should be foaming at the mouth to get back on the ice, especially against a team that just put up 10 goals, as the Blues are always up for a challenge.
Fair Odds: Blues -115
Others on the ice for Friday:
- Hurricanes -120
- Blue Jackets/Lightning ML parlay +134
YTD: 20-21-1 -2.46 units
