The Highlights

  • Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Juventus after the club agreed to a €100m ($117 million) transfer fee with Real Madrid.
  • The 33-year-old spent nine years with Real Madrid, winning two La Liga titles and four Champions League titles.
  • Juventus' odds have gone from 14-1 to 8-1 to win the Champions League following the move.

Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has officially signed a four-year deal at Juventus for a salary worth roughly €30 million per year ($35 million). He is Real Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer with 451 goals and a five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

In a letter to fans, Ronaldo stated “I only have feelings of enormous gratitude for this club and for this city. Real Madrid has conquered my heart, and that of my family, and that is why more than ever I want to say thank you.”

Following his departure from Real Madrid to Juventus, odds were on the move for the UEFA Champions League, Italy's Serie A and Spain's La Liga. There aren't a lot of sportsbooks with domestic league futures posted with the World Cup happening, but most should be up by early next week.

Here's a look at how odds have moved at Skybet.

2018-19 Champions League Odds

Ronaldo's transfer instantly moved Juventus from 14-1 to 8-1 to win the Champions League. That puts them on equal footing with Real Madrid, who were adjusted from 7-1 to 8-1, alongside Bayern Munich and PSG.

Barcelona and Manchester remain the co-favorites at 6-1 and odds have gone unchanged.

2018-19 Italy Serie A Odds

Juventus were already heavy favorites to win Serie A for the eighth straight season, and they moved from -163 to -175 with the arrival of Ronaldo. Napoli's odds to win the title suffered as the market adjusted them from +350 to +450.

The odds up and down the board follow a similar pattern to England: a big title favorite (Manchester City) with a couple teams in striking distance, a few darkorses and then all longshots.

2018-19 Spain La Liga Odds

Real Madrid's La Liga odds actually haven't suffered at all. They're currently listed at +120, which is better than the opener of +125. One of the world's biggest clubs, they'll be able to re-invest the money for quality players, so it's not a complete loss of a player. Obviously there's no "replacing" Ronaldo, but there's still plenty of talent on the roster and more to come.
