From an entertainment standpoint, Monday's NBA slate is a basketball fan's dream. Four playoff matchups beginning in the early afternoon and spanning about 10 hours? Sign us up.
But from a sharp betting standpoint, the market has been disappointingly quiet. Lines have bounced back and forth a bit, but there really hasn't been much one-sided action from pro bettors.
At least that was true until about an hour ago.
76ers vs. Celtics Sharp Betting Pick
The total for Game 1 of the Sixers-Celtics series has fallen to 217 at DraftKings. For most of the day it sat at either 218 or 218.5, and some earlier books to market even listed 219 for a short time.
But the drop to the current number hasn't come as a result of the under's popularity.
As you may be aware, most bettors don't find much joy in betting the under. Each of today's four games saw the over receive the majority of bets on the total, with this one being the most popular of the bunch (78% of tickets).
But sharps have recently made it clear that they aren't among that betting majority.
Since 4:30 p.m. ET, two Sports Insights Bet Signals — which track and record instances of market movement caused by sharp action — have been triggered on the under (at 219 and 218.5).
Also worth noting, the the 22% of bets backing the under have generated a higher percentage of actual money (31%). This means that bigger bets — the ones more likely to come from sharps — are banking on a lower-scoring game.
Sharp angle: Under (moved from 218.5 to 217) [Bet now at DraftKings and get a $1,000 sign-up bonus.]
