The Eastern Conference is expected to be wide open this season. 

The Carolina Hurricanes are the odds-on favorite but not by much. The Hurricanes are closely followed by the Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins. 

The Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres are a couple of dark horses in the Eastern Conference.
