NC State Wolfpack

Road to the Sweet 16:

  • First Round vs. No. 14 seed Chattanooga: W 64-45 (Chattanooga +26 | Under 120.5)
  • Second Round vs. No. 6 seed Tennessee: W 79-72 (NC State -4 | Over 140.5)

Wes Moore’s team looks to be back to its midseason form, with comfortable wins through the opening rounds.

NC State built a huge lead against Tennessee at home by getting out in transition and forcing the Lady Vols into some tough shots in the second quarter. After being down 23-17 with a few minutes left in the first quarter, the Wolfpack closed the half on a 32-8 run to take an 18-point lead into the break.

The Volunteers were able to climb all the way back behind huge second-half performances from Rickea Jackson and Tomari Key, and trailed NC State by 2 with 3:44 to go. From there Wolfpack guard Aziah James made back to back clutch buckets and the Wolfpack shot free throws the rest of the way to a comfortable win.

Stanford Cardinal

Road to the Sweet 16:

  • First Round vs. No. 15 seed Norfolk State: W 79-50 (Norfolk State +35.5 | Over 126.5)
  • Second Round vs. No. 7 seed Iowa State: W 87-81 (OT) (Iowa State +13 | Over 141.5)

Stanford was taken to the brink (pun intended) as the Cardinal was once again staring at a fourth quarter deficit at home in the 2nd round of the WNCAA tournament. Cameron Brink was in foul trouble the majority of the game, and in her absence, Kiki Irafen delivered an absolute gem of a performance. Irafen poured in 41 points on 16/30 from the field and pulled down 16 boards in Stanford’s win against Iowa State. In the fourth and in overtime, the Cardinal finally got some contributions from their guards, as Brooke Demetre knocked down two of the biggest threes of her life, one to take a 2 point lead at the end of regulation, and one to ice the game away in the overtime period.

NC State vs. Stanford

Betting Pick & Prediction

I did already give out NC State +5.5 on the Sweet 16 Preview show, and I like this game to also go Over the total. Offense is peaking at the right time for both these teams, and while we have seen NC State struggle to guard players in that Kiki Irafen role, Stanford has struggled with athletic guards. I think we see a 70-68 type of game with plenty of threes, free throws and tough shot-making.

Pick: Over 134.5 (Play to 136.5)
