Eagles 1H -3.5 (-105)

My Eagles vs Giants prediction and pick is on the first-half spread. The latest Eagles vs Giants odds have the Eagles as 4.5-point favorites on the spread with an over/under of 43 total points.

The Eagles and Giants face off in a game that has massive implications for Philadelphia’s postseason fate … until it might not. An Eagles win, coupled with a Cowboys loss (or tie), gives Philadelphia the NFC East title and the second seed in the playoffs. However, Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni intimated that he may pull his starters in the second half if the Cowboys are up big.

I’m staying away from any bets over the full 60 minutes and am backing Philadelphia in the first half for my Eagles vs Giants pick. Read more in my Week 18 preview below!

Eagles vs. Giants Preview

Are the Eagles frauds? That's a strong word, but their ridiculous good fortune has certainly run out.

My colleague Brandon Anderson wrote extensively about how Philadelphia played with fire all year and finally got burned. The Eagles started the year 10-1, but went an unsustainable 7-0 in one-score games. The proof is in the pudding as they’ve lost four of their last five and appear broken.

Philadelphia has an outside shot to win the NFC East, but that depends on the Cowboys losing as 13.5-point favorites against the Commanders. Philadelphia obviously must go full bore from the get-go in case Washington pulls off a massive upset, but there is a very realistic chance we see Marcus Mariota throwing to the likes of Quez Watkins, Olamide Zaccheaus and Britain Covey if — or rather once — the Dallas game is out of hand.

The Eagles' lone win since December came against these Giants, when Philadelphia jumped out to a 20-3 halftime lead. In fact, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have led at halftime multiple times against sub-.500 teams before collapsing in the second half. The Eagles were up 21-6 over Arizona last week before ultimately falling 35-31, and led Seattle 10-3 at halftime before losing 20-17.

Meanwhile, the Giants are a slow-starting bunch on both sides of the ball. They average 5.6 points over the first 30 minutes of play, which is by far the worst in the league. It’s also exactly seven points fewer than the Eagles average. The difference is more drastic over the last three games — New York’s averaging 6.3 in the first half while Philadelphia’s scoring 17.0, which is the seventh most over that span.

On defense, the Giants surrender the fifth-most first-half points (13.4). Meanwhile, a porous Eagles defense has been strong over the last three weeks, allowing a league-low 4.0 points in the first half. Unfortunately, they’ve been the exact opposite in the second half, allowing a league-high 22.7 points, which is why they’re in their current predicament.

Eagles vs. Giants Pick & Prediction

There are many variables at play that may lead to the Eagles eventually waving the white flag. So, the clear play is to target the first half.

Still, keep a mindful eye on reports leading up to kickoff. The weather’s supposed to be atrocious on Sunday, and some speculate that Nick Sirianni might simply punt the game and rest his starters from the start to prevent a possible injury.

There are so many permutations as to what might play out as the game rolls along that this is only a lean for me, potentially even a stay away as we approach kickoff. However, if we’re going to bet this game, the Eagles covering in the first half feels like a smart option.
