Legal online sports wagering has launched in North Carolina.

There is also a brand new sportsbook that has launched in North Carolina, one that sports bettors and daily fantasy sports players will be familiar with.

Underdog Fantasy has migrated over to the sports betting space to launch Underdog Sportsbook.

Underdog launched in 2020 as a daily fantasy platform. It allowed sports enthusiasts the opportunity to enter contests and games for various sporting events. Underdog especially grew in popularity in states that did not have legal sports wagering. According to the release, Underdog is the fastest-growing paid fantasy sports company ever.

Underdog Fantasy, along with other daily fantasy sites that could blur the lines between daily fantasy and sports wagering, had been under fire in some states. New York and Florida shut down their ability to operate most of their current contests.

Entering the sports betting space will allow for more opportunities for the company and what they have to offer.

North Carolina residents with a current Underdog Fantasy account can simply access Underdog Sportsbook using their same credentials. They are also able to use fantasy winnings for the sportsbook.

"In the coming weeks and months, new features will include additional ways to bet, increased deposit and withdrawal options, original games and more," the release stated.

The Underdog Sportsbook app will be powered by its own technology.
