How FanDuel Promo Codes & Free Bets Work
Sportsbooks throw around plenty of promotional jargon these days — we’ve got a guide to what each of them really mean. Check it out before signing up and betting at any sportsbook.
In regards to the $1,000 no-sweat first bet, you don't have to deposit $1,000. It's a no-sweat that matches however much you put in. Here's how it works exactly:
- You deposit $250 and bet the Canadiens +150 against the Maple Leafs at 7 p.m. tonight.
- If it wins, you'll profit $375 ($250 x 1.5) and keep the original $250. You've now got $625 total in your account to deposit or continue betting.
- If the Canadiens lose, you get $250 back in free bets.
"Free bets" are bets that can be placed on anything but not withdrawn as cash. You must win your wager with them to withdraw the profits, but not the original free bet money.
Now, let's say the Canadiens lose, and you get the $250 in free bets back. You don't have to wager all $250 at once, but we will for simplicity's sake.
You take $250 in free bets and bet it on Joe Mixon to score 2+ touchdowns at +440 for the Bengals against the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.
- If Mixon scores 2+ times: You make $1,100, but don't keep the $250 free bets.
- If Mixon doesn't score 2+ times: You have $0 in your account.
So if Mixon gets in the end zone two or more times, you've now got a $1,100 profit off a $250 deposit.
Keep in mind, there is some risk involved here. If the free bet wagers don't hit, you can lose some or all of your deposit.

How to Use Your FanDuel Sportsbook Promo Code Bonus
The rule of thumb is this: the higher the line, the more expected value you’re seeing. Taking advantage of free bets from promo codes always starts with betting on anything that’s plus money — +150, +350, etc.
