New York Sports Betting: 2022 Figures, Stats and Record-Breaking Handle

To call New York's first year of legalized sports betting a success would be a sheer understatement.
Start with record-breaking — then work your way up.
New Jersey set the benchmark last year with $10.6 billion pulled in on sports bets.
Not only did The Empire State beat New Jersey, it crushed it.
New York reported a whopping $16.2 billion in Year 1.
“It has been a remarkable, record-setting first year for mobile sports betting in New York, with only nine professional operators,” New York State Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr. told Action Network. “I’m grateful to have joined others in the state in putting forth a product that New Yorkers deserved and appreciate the benefits to our economy, in addition to educational and addiction program funding.”
We saw this coming from a mile away, as early trends pointed to potential sports betting lore.
It took New York a mere 16 days to surpass $1 billion in sports betting handle once it went live last January. In fact, more than $600 million was pulled in over just the first nine days.
Household sportsbooks like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers and Caesars were the first four shops to launch online in New York. They were followed by others like BetMGM and PointsBet.
