Heads up, Maryland sports bettors — there will be at least 10 legal online sportsbooks available for you to choose from in the next several weeks.

Maryland sports betting has been in limbo for far too long. After a two-year wait, legalized online sports betting is almost a reality in the Old Line State. The sports betting application deadline was on Oct. 21, and the Maryland Sports Wagering Application Review Commission reaffirmed online sports betting should start between Nov. 21 and Dec. 5.

The Sports Wagering Act Review Committee will announce which sportsbooks have been granted online sports betting licenses on Nov. 21. Before the online sportsbooks are approved and announced, the operators are thoroughly vetted. The research includes how sports betting will affect the state's economy, the tax structure, and what the tax revenue will be used for. The SWARC is heavily involved in assisting the Maryland State Lottery & Gaming Control during this process.

Here is the list of sportsbooks that have applied or are likely to apply for approval in Maryland to be ready once online sports betting goes live in the state.
