Barstool Sportsbook Review Summary

  • Bonuses & Promotions

Barstool has a great $1,000 risk-free bet sign-up offer that requires only a 1x rollover, one of the better marks in the industry. Additionally, they create new promotions and odds boosts daily, including betting "with" notable Barstool personalities.

  • Mobile App & Website

Barstool's app is simple to use once you get the hang of it, but could be difficult when first starting out compared to other books. Connecting with support through the app is seamless as well.

  • Registering & Cashiering

We haven’t heard of significant issues registering, depositing or withdrawing at Barstool. Once you connect a means of depositing and withdrawing, Barstool can have it saved in the app and you can make transactions in a matter of seconds.

  • Betting Options

Barstool is slowly working its way through the legal betting states having only opened up shop just over a year ago. There are a few niche markets like specific props that may not be available, but overall, Barstool is a book in setting odds for nearly every sport and league.

  • Barstool Sportsbook vs Other Sportsbooks

Barstool is still expanding through legal betting states, but among those they are active in, they are one of the most popular books among younger (legal) bettors. Their internet influence certainly helps in this space.

It can often be tough to profit long-term at sports betting, mainly because of the juice — the “tax,” sometimes called the “vig” — charged on each bet. That means it’s essential for bettors to take advantage of sportsbook promotions, whether it’s a sign-up offer or a daily booster, to maximize expected value. Barstool's mobile app has unique bonus and promotion offers for all levels of sports bettors, whether you're new to the game or a seasoned vet. Playing with the company's loud and flamboyant personalities is a surefire way to increase the action on your bets.

Web Experience & Performance

Following Penn National Gaming's purchase of 36 percent of Barstool Sports in January 2020, the company made the natural expansion to get into sports betting later that September and has since launched the Barstool Sportsbook in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. They’ll likely expand into every legal state over time and should be a major player in the industry for years to come due to their popularity among young adult sports fans.

The desktop site is speedy, mobile-friendly, sleek, and easy to navigate. On Barstool's homepage, users can easily find the sport they want to bet, along with live markets, odds boosts and featured promotions through scrolls at the top and left side of the screen, as well as small icons front and center for the most popular sports and promos. Everything is housed on one screen, which means users don’t have to reload pages and have multiple tabs up at once to bet. Barstool's bet slip experience is very user-friendly, as it seamlessly pops up on the right side of the screen after clicking on a bet. It’s easy to change a bet type from straight to a teaser, parlay, round robin and a custom parlay as well.

The navigation is also set up in their sports menu; it’s effortless to find sub-markets like game and player props, head-to-head matchups, and more. An amazing feature they've added is the season long percentages, including a list of the highest and lowest covering, and over/under teams, as well as best home and road teams.

Web-Based Platform: Barstool is good, but could be better

Category: Web Speed

Comparison: Barstool vs. FanDuel

Measured: Web Interface, Web-based User Experience

Barstool Sportsbook web platform matches the design and overall feel of the mobile app, which makes things consistent and convenient. Finding the markets you want and placing bets is quick and easy. The one thing we'd like to see them add are more team logos on the board. FanDuel, DraftKings and some of the other top sportsbooks out there show all team logos next to the list of games and futures because it acts as a visual aid and could potentially prevent someone from placing a wrong bet by mistake. Barstool has it for NFL games, but is lacking for others.

  • User Interface: iOS users raved about how easy it is to use the app and the design of it as well. The app reacts smoothly with your finger swipes and taps, with little to know wait time on moves.
  • Promotions and Boosts: Users absolutely love "Betting with Barstool" and their personalities. Between their website and podcast network, Barstool has become extremely popular in the internet space, and they've capitalized on that by bringing some of those characters into the sportsbook.

Barstool Sportsbook iOS User Negatives Negative to dealer communication

  • Customer Service Issues: Some users reported issues with customer service not being able to verify their identities and claim that they don't read customer support inquiries.
  • Unfavorable Odds/Win Percentage: Players haven't felt the same type of winning ways that they've had at other books like FanDuel or DraftKings. Some also did deeper dives looking at odds differences between books and found others to be more favorable.
