Since the beginning of the NBA’s bubble restart, all the Suns have done is win. They followed up a 13-point victory over the Wizards in their opening game with a 117-115 win over the Mavericks, and one by the same score over the Clippers on Tuesday.
Yet they still couldn’t help opening as 3-point underdogs to the Pacers on Thursday, and even with points, they’ve had a difficult time attracting bets (I suppose playing another 3-0 team will have that effect). As of noon ET, only 38% of spread tickets placed on this game have landed on the Suns.
But while Phoenix hasn’t been a popular pick among the majority of bettors, it has been popular among the important ones in the eyes of sportsbooks.
Pacers vs. Suns Sharp Betting Pick
As you probably noticed atop the article, this game no longer sports a 3-point spread. Despite most bettors rolling with the Pacers, Indiana has gone from -3 to -2, which should tell you something about the type of bettors taking the underdog.
Sure enough, Sports Insights Bet Signals — which track and record instances of line movement cased by sharp action — have been triggered three times on Phoenix, twice at +3 and most recently at +2.5, bringing the market-wide consensus down to +2.
Also worth noting is that the 38% of bets on the Suns have generated 48% of actual money landing on the spread, meaning they’re drawing significantly bigger bets — the ones more likely to come from sharps.
