How Are Sharps Betting Sunday’s Marshall-West Virginia Matchup?
After upsetting Wichita State, Marshall finds itself pitted against an in-state "rival" in West Virginia. In this all-Mountain State matchup, sportsbooks opened with West Virginia listed as an 11.5-point favorite.
Despite their close proximity, the two schools haven't actually seen one another since 2015. But for what it's worth, Marshall has covered in six of the last 10 meetups though they've won only once. This game tips at 9:40 p.m. ET, so let's take a look who wiseguys are betting in this matchup.
Given the double-digit spread, Marshall has attracted the majority of bettors, but this line has moved away from the Herd despite their public support.
With 66% of spread dollars landing on West Virginia, this game features the largest bets vs. dollars discrepancy of any game on today's slate. That indication of sharp action has helped push WVU from -11.5 to -13.
Trendy underdogs have been historically terrible in the NCAA Tournament, and they've been especially bad in the Round of 32. Entering this season, dogs getting more than 50% of bets were 19-35-1 against the spread this round, so you may want to think twice if you were considering going with the points in this one.
