Each Saturday, I will pick out my six favorite situational sides on the college football card. Short and simple.
North Texas +22
Great spot to catch Iowa sleeping after a road OT win at Iowa State with a home game against Penn State on deck.
Got a 22.5 after waiting for the 21+. Good spot to fade a TCU team coming off a road SEC win with the start of conference play on deck.
Talked about this on the podcast. Georgia’s coming off of a road win at Notre Dame with Mississippi State on deck. They are dealing with a number of injuries on the offensive side of the ball, so expect an early pull of the starters.
Biggest emotional letdown on the board will be in Norman after Oklahoma went up to Columbus and got revenge from last season. You know Oklahoma will pull Mayfield early as they did in their blowout win vs UTEP. It doesn’t hurt that Big 12 play starts for Oklahoma next week.
UCLA is 2-0, but those two wins include a miracle comeback at home vs. Texas A&M and a home win vs Hawaii. I’m not impressed. They are still one dimensional, as they can’t get a push up front to run the ball. Early kick for the traveling Bruins who have a trip to Stanford on deck. Meanwhile, Memphis has had 16 days to rest and prepare since they have not played since August 31.
Northern Colorado +38.5
No way Colorado tries to run this up with Washington coming to Boulder next week. Expect the starters to come out even sooner than usual. You know the Bears will be up to play against their in-state FBS opponent. They have also had two weeks to prepare since their trip to play Florida was canceled last week.
