How the bet365 Promos Work
We'll walk you through how these promos actually work, so you can take full advantage and not be caught off guard when you're completing the requirements.
$1,000 first bet safety net
This type of promo has many different names — first bet safety net, no sweat first bet, etc. They all work the same. You make a bet (usually up to $1,000 or so) and if it wins, you keep the profit. If it loses, you get refunded in bonus bets, and you'll have to turn those bonus bets into cash to recoup your investment.
Say you bet $1,000 on the Winnipeg Jets to beat the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Saturday night, priced at +120.
- If Winnipeg wins, you'd win $1,200 ($1,000 x 1.2) and keep your $1,000 wager. The promo is now over, and you'd have $2,200 in your account that you can withdraw or keep betting.
- If the Jets lose, you'll get $1,000 back in bonus bets, and have seven days to use them.
From there, you have two options — bet at plus-money to maximize the expected value, or use a method called conversion. Either way, you'll want to try to turn those bonus bets into cash to recoup some of your initial investment, or even come out ahead if you hit on a bunch of those bonus bet wagers.
If the Jets lose, say you take $100 in bonus bets and put it on Scottie Scheffler to win the PGA Championship, priced at +500.
- If he wins, you'll profit $500 in cash, but you don't keep the $100 from the bonus bet. So you'll have $500 cash in your account, and $900 bonus bets left.
- If Scheffler doesn't win, you'll have $0 cash still but $900 in bonus bets remaining.
Of course, you don't have to wager the full $1,000, and the principles still apply if you're depositing and wagering a smaller amount.
Bet $5, get $150
This offer is a little more straightforward and requires less initial investment, though there's less money on the table than if you did maximize the first bet safety net.
There are two parts to this offer — bet $5 on anything -500 or longer (meaning -450 is OK but -650 is not), and you'll get the $150 in bonus bets.
I recommend betting something immediately once you sign up, or else you're going to have to wait on the bonus bets. If you sign up on Saturday, but bet a Sunday game with your first wager, you won't have the bonus bets until later Sunday.
So let's say you sign up Saturday, bet $5 on a soccer match in the morning, and then bet a golf matchup between Nick Taylor at +300 over Rory McIlroy for Round 3 (we always recommend betting at plus-money with bonus bets, since you're maximizing the expected value) with $20 in bonus bets.
- If Taylor wins, you profit $60, but don't keep the bonus bet. So you'll have $60 in cash plus whatever you deposited, and $130 in bonus bets left.
- If Taylor doesn't win, your bonus bet just goes away, and you'll have $130 of those remaining.
