  • Tom Brady and the New England Patriots covered the spread with their win over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53.
  • Brady has now covered the spread in four Super Bowls -- the most in history.

Tom Brady and the Patriots are Super Bowl 53 champions. And perhaps more importantly, they covered the 2-point spread against the Rams in the 13-3 win.

This marks the fourth time that Brady has covered the spread in a Super Bowl — an all-time record for quarterbacks.

Brady was previously tied with Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staubach and Joe Montana for the most Super Bowls covered at three.

Brady also avoided becoming the first quarterback to fail to cover the spread as a favorite in consecutive Super Bowl appearances.

Only seven quarterbacks have even started four Super Bowls. And the three of the seven without at least three covers are John Elway, Peyton Manning and Jim Kelly.

Brady covered his first Super Bowl appearance, which was 17 years ago to this day (also against the Rams).

When you compare the gap between Brady's first and most recent Super Bowl covers to the first and final covers for the other three quarterbacks, it cements just how impressive Brady's run has been.

  • Tom Brady: 17 years — SB 36 vs. Rams to SB 53 vs. Rams
  • Joe Montana: 8 years — SB 16 vs. Bengals to SB 24 vs. Broncos
  • Roger Staubach: 6 years — SB 6 vs. Dolphins to SB 12 vs. Broncos
  • Terry Bradshaw: 5 years — SB 9 vs. Vikings to SB 14 vs. Rams
