2025 Open Championship Golf Predictions
Check out my predictions for The Open Championship, featuring the first round leader and tournament winner.
First Round Leader Predictions
Shane Lowry (+4000): Shane Lowry should be a popular pick this week, as he won the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush. I'm optimistic about his chances to win the tournament, and I think he has a good chance to get off to a strong start. In both the 2019 Open Championship and last year's event, Lowry was one shot off the lead after the first round. Can he do a little better this year?
Brooks Koepka (+7500): It's been a while since Brooks Koepka has been in contention for a major, but his results in the LIV Tour suggest that a breakout performance could be coming. He was only two shots off the lead in the first round of the 2019 Open Championship. Last year, Koepka was just outside the top 10, so he's been within striking range and could make for an intriguing longshot.
The Open Championship Golf Winner Predictions
Tommy Fleetwood (+2400): Tommy Fleetwood continues to be agonizingly close to achieving his first PGA Tour victory, and it wouldn't surprise me if it came this week. He has finished in the top 10 in three of the last five Open Championships, including a runner-up finish at Royal Portrush in 2019. Add in a few top-five finishes in his last five starts on the PGA Tour, and we have a serious contender.
Cameron Young (+8000): Let's continue with the theme of players without a PGA Tour victory by looking at Cameron Young. One of Young's closest calls came in the 2022 Open Championship, where he finished one shot behind Cameron Smith. In 2023, Young finished eighth in this event. He has achieved a pair of fourth-place finishes in his last four PGA Tour starts, including the U.S. Open.
