Bengals vs. Seahawks Odds: A.J. Green Injury Moving Week 1 Betting Line

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green needed a minor procedure to clean out his injured ankle. Based on what doctor's found, the star pass-catcher will now miss at least a few games to start the NFL season.

While there are plenty of questions regarding how this will affect Green, Tyler Boyd and Cincinnati's offense for fantasy football drafting purposes, the betting implications are much more concrete.

Green will not play in the Bengals' season-opening game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Because Green is so important to the team, his absence had an immediate affect on the betting lines for Cincy's Week 1 matchup.

Seattle opened as an 8-point favorite against Cincinnati in April, which is exactly where the line sat at the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas as recently as July 20.

However, as news began leaking that Green suffered a significant injury, the line moved to Seahawks -9 on Saturday, then up to the current number of -9.5 on Monday morning.

Interestingly, 67% of spread bets have landed on the Bengals so far, but 71% of the money is backing the Seahawks.

This tells us that, while it's still very early for the NFL Week 1 betting market, the bigger wagers have landed on Seattle.

The Bengals-Seahawks over/under also saw an adjustment, dropping from 43.5 to 43 on Saturday afternoon.

Fifty-nine percent of tickets wagered on total are on the over at the time of writing.
